Master of Science "Computer Vision (CV) and Computational Intelligence (CI)"

Contents of Studies

The course of study Computer Vision and Computational Intelligence (CV&CI) is designed for graduates of computer science as well as for graduates of science, mathematics or engineering studies with a high portion of education in computer science. Leading to the degree Master of Science, it provides extensive and practice-oriented knowledge and conveys the key skills and qualifications demanded by industrial organizations and businesses. It also focuses on the physical/technical comprehension of systems and the proper development of software and/or system components (portability, usability, maintainability), keeping in mind that the application always plays an important role.

The course of study includes a field work project. The students can choose from three optional modules (Industrial Computer Vision or Biomedical Computer Vision or Computational Intelligence). This project can be completed at all locations of the university (i.e., Iserlohn, Hagen, Meschede and Soest), at the locations of our European partner universities, as well as in other foreign countries.

The Department

The course of study CV & CI is a study program offered by the department of Computer Science and Natural Sciences of the University of Applied Sciences Suedwestfalen, Iserlohn, and the cooperating partner universities. The department and the university have created an identity as a center of innovation and creativity, especially for the economic region of southern Westphalia. The department's main focus of research is Computer Vision, Computational Intelligence and Process Control, installed by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Studies take place in a personal working atmosphere with close contact to the professors and the whole teaching staff. Well-equipped laboratories are available for lectures, research and development. We maintain close contacts to regional and national industrial enterprises. Our mission is to ensure both practice-oriented and in-depth scientific education and research.

Through the competence platform Computer Vision based on Computational Intelligence installed and funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, participants of the master program have immediate access to recent research resources, providing a superior combination of education and research.
